🥄 Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse 🍫🥜
Light, creamy, and utterly indulgent — with a silky ganache topping and a nutty crunch!
This dessert is a match made in heaven for chocolate and peanut butter lovers. With a fluffy peanut butter mousse layered under rich chocolate ganache and topped with roasted peanuts, each bite is smooth, sweet, salty, and satisfying. Bonus: it’s make-ahead friendly!
🍫 Ingredients:
For the Ganache:
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 oz semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
For the Mousse:
- 3 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- ⅓ cup packed light brown sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- 1¼ cups cold heavy cream
- ⅔ cup creamy peanut butter (like Jif or Skippy)
For Garnish:
- Chopped roasted peanuts (optional, but recommended)
👩🍳 Instructions:
1️⃣ Make the Ganache:
In a medium microwave-safe bowl, heat ½ cup heavy cream until very hot (about 40 seconds to 1 minute).
Add 2 oz chopped chocolate, making sure it’s fully covered by the cream.
Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until melted and smooth. Set aside.
2️⃣ Make the Mousse:
In a stand mixer or large bowl with a hand mixer, combine:
- 3 oz cream cheese
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp salt
Beat on medium speed for about 1 minute, scraping the bowl halfway through, until smooth and sugar is dissolved.
Slowly pour in 1¼ cups cold heavy cream while mixing on medium-low speed.
Increase to medium-high and whip until stiff peaks form (about 1 minute).
Add ⅔ cup peanut butter and beat on medium-low until fully combined and fluffy. (The mixture may look broken at first but will smooth out.)
3️⃣ Assemble:
Spoon the mousse evenly into 4 glasses or ramekins (about ¾ cup per serving).
Smooth the tops gently with the back of a spoon.
Give the ganache a good stir and spoon 2 tbsp over each mousse.
Tilt the glass to spread the ganache into an even layer without disturbing the mousse.
Top with chopped roasted peanuts for crunch and texture.
4️⃣ Chill & Serve:
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) until set.
Let sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before serving for best texture.
📝 Notes:
- Use room-temperature cream cheese for the silkiest mousse.
- Want to layer mousse and ganache? Try it in narrow jars!
- For a deeper flavor, substitute dark chocolate for the ganache.
