Ingredients

  • ½ lb turkey bacon, chopped
  • ½ lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 (15 oz) cans chili beans (do not drain)
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained
  • ⅔ cup steak sauce (like A.1.)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

1. Cook the Turkey Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped turkey bacon until crispy.
Use a slotted spoon to remove and set it on a paper towel-lined plate.
Leave about 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease in the skillet.

2. Brown the Beef & Onion

Add ground beef and diced onion to the same skillet.
Cook for about 5 minutes, or until beef is browned and onions are tender.

3. Assemble in the Slow Cooker

Transfer the beef-onion mixture into your slow cooker.
Add the cooked turkey bacon, all beans, steak sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and all spices.
Stir until everything is well combined.

4. Cook Low & Slow

Cover and cook on:

  • LOW for 3–4 hours
  • OR HIGH for 1–2 hours, until hot and bubbling.

5. Serve It Up

Give it a good stir before serving.
Serve warm, and pair with cornbread, grilled meats, or eat it straight from the bowl like a true cowboy!
