📋 Ingredients

🦐 For the Shrimp:

  • 450 g (1 lb) large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
  • 240 ml (1 cup) buttermilk
  • 125 g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

🍯 For the Glaze:

  • 170 g (about ½ cup) hot honey (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish

🔥 Directions

1. Marinate the Shrimp

In a medium bowl, add shrimp and cover with buttermilk. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the coating and oil.

2. Make the Seasoned Coating

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

3. Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 175°C (350°F). Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying for that perfect crisp.

4. Dredge & Fry

Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and dredge each one in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure a thick, even coating.

Fry the shrimp in batches (don’t overcrowd!) for 2–3 minutes per batch, or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

5. Glaze & Garnish

While still warm, drizzle (or toss!) the crispy shrimp with hot honey. Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh finish.
