🛒 Ingredients

For the Steak & Shrimp:

  • ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

For the Vegetables:

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • ½ green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

For the Yellow Rice:

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1¾ cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the Yellow Rice:

  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir in the rice, turmeric, cumin, and a pinch of salt. Toast for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
  • Fluff with a fork and keep warm.

2. Sauté the Veggies:

  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add chopped onion and bell pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes until soft and lightly charred. Set aside.

3. Sear the Steak:

  • Season steak cubes with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Add 1 tbsp olive oil to the skillet over high heat. Sear steak for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.

4. Cook the Shrimp & Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium.
  • Add shrimp and cook 2 minutes per side until pink.
  • Stir in garlic, honey, and soy sauce. Let it bubble and caramelize for 1 minute.

5. Bring It All Together:

  • Return steak and veggies to the skillet. Toss everything in the honey garlic sauce until well-coated.

6. Serve:

  • Spoon yellow rice onto plates.
  • Top with steak, shrimp, and veggies.
  • Drizzle any leftover sauce over the top. Serve hot.
